Srinagar, Aug 08 (NVI): BJP leader Avatar Singh on Thursday said that the party’s primary demand for the Election Commission of India (ECI) is to conduct elections in Jammu and Kashmir before September 30.
Singh’s remarks followed a meeting with an ECI team in Srinagar, which was evaluating the situation for holding the long-delayed assembly elections in the region.
During the meeting, Singh highlighted the importance of timely elections for restoring democratic governance and ensuring political stability in Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that BJP is already working for the welfare of the people and that is their aim and they are ready for elections as or when they will be held.
Singh’s comments come amidst ongoing discussions and assessments by the ECI regarding the feasibility of conducting elections in the region, which has been under central rule since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019.
The demand for timely elections has been echoed by various political parties and stakeholders in Jammu and Kashmir, who argue that an elected government is essential for addressing local issues and fostering development.(News Vibes of India)
