Coronavirus cases exceed 125.4 mn globally, recoveries top 71 mn

New Delhi (NVI): The global count of coronavirus cases has reached more than 125.4 million, with over 2,754,000 deaths reported. Over 71 million patients have been cured of the deadly contagion, according to Johns Hopkins University data.

In the US, the total number of coronavirus infection has reached to more than 30 million, while the total number of COVID-19 fatalities have surpassed 5,46,000 in the country.

Brazil’s coronavirus cases have crossed the 12.3 million-mark and stand at 12,320,069 while the number of deaths has surged past 3,03,000.

Furthermore, Mexico’s Covid-19 death toll topped 2,00,000 on Thursday, making it the third country in the world to reach the devastating milestone as the country struggles with its vaccination rollout.

Australia has reported its first locally acquired coronavirus case in more than a week after a 26-year-old man tested positive, prompting authorities to place restrictions on hospitals, retirement homes and disability centres.

Meanwhile, Ukraine registered a record number of coronavirus deaths for the third straight day, health authorities said, as new infections also reached a record high.
