Coronavirus cases exceed 133.8 mn globally, US tally tops 31 mn

New Delhi (NVI): The global count of coronavirus cases has reached more than 133.8 million, with over 2,901,000 deaths reported. Over 76 million patients have been cured of the deadly contagion, according to Johns Hopkins University data.

In the US, the total number of coronavirus infection has reached to more than 31 million, while the total number of COVID-19 fatalities have surpassed 5,60,000 in the country.

Brazil’s coronavirus cases have crossed the 13.2 million-mark and stand at 13,279,857 while the number of deaths has surged past 3,45,000.

Furthermore, Turkey recorded 55,941 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, the highest daily level in the country since the start of the pandemic, health ministry data showed.

The coronavirus death toll in Scotland has now passed 10,000, with the National Records of Scotland warning the actual fatality figure may be even higher.

Meanwhile, the Netherlands has become the latest country to limit use of the AstraZeneca vaccine to people aged over 60.
