Coronavirus cases exceed 15.6 million worldwide

New Delhi (NVI): More than 15.6 million people around the world have been confirmed to have the coronavirus, while the death toll is nearing 6,38,000, according to the Johns Hopkins University tally.

Over 8.98 million patients have recovered from the deadly disease globally.

In the US, nearly 4.10 million have been infected with the novel coronavirus while the country recorded over 1,000 deaths from COVID-19 for the fourth straight day, with this 1,45,300 people have lost their lives to the deadly contagion.

Brazil comes second on a global tally of coronavirus cases after the US. The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Brazil has increased by 55,891 to 2,343,366 in the past 24 hours while the death toll stands at 85,238.

Meanwhile, the threat of second loomed over China as it reported 34 cases in the mainland within the past 24 hours, up from 21 cases a day earlier. The Chinese mainland has recorded a total of 83,784 COVID-19 cases.

Apart from this, the Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced that the international flights will be resumed from August 1 and the approved destinations are UK, Tanzania and Turkey.

The World Health Organization (WHO) reported a record increase in global coronavirus cases, with the total rising by 284,196 in the past 24 hours.
