New Delhi (NVI): Globally, more than 4.15 million cases of the coronavirus have now been confirmed, and 1.45 million people have recovered, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University. More than 2,86,330 people have died from COVID-19.
In the US, more than 80,000 people are now known to have died from COVID-19, with more than 1.3 million people infected with the virus, with the US remaining the worst hit country due to the contagion.
Russia is due to start easing coronavirus restrictions from today, despite reporting a record number of cases the previous day. A total of 2,21,334 positive cases of the virus have been reported from the country.
Meanwhile, France and Spain, two of the hardest pandemic-hit countries in Europe, are gradually easing the restrictions they imposed to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
In addition to this, the World Health Organization (WHO) has appealed for more funding to accelerate vaccine development for about seven to eight “top” candidates, according to the UN agency’s chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
In South Korea, the number of coronavirus cases linked to a 29-year-old man who went clubbing in the district of Itaewon in the South Korean capital has risen to 101 nationwide.
