Coronavirus cases exceed 63.2 mn worldwide; recovered cases top 40.5 mn

New Delhi (NVI): More than 63.2 million people around the world have been confirmed to have the coronavirus, while the death toll has crossed 14,67,000, according to the Johns Hopkins University tally. Over 40.5 million patients have recovered from the deadly disease globally.

The number of coronavirus infections in the US have surpassed 13.5 million while the number of fatalities due to the deadly contagion have crossed 2,68,000.

Brazil’s coronavirus cases have crossed the 63 lakh-mark and stands at 6,335,878 while the number of deaths have surged past 1,73,000 in the country.

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Germany increased by 13,604 to 1,067,473. The reported death toll rose by 388 to 16,636.

Meanwhile, Jakarta governor and his deputy have both tested positive for coronavirus.

Indonesia confirmed a national record case rise on 29 November, with 6,267 new infections reported. There are a total of 538,883 cases in the country, and 16,945 people have died.

The head of the World Health Organization said on Monday that Mexico is in “bad shape” regarding the coronavirus as infections and deaths surge.

Mexico’s coronavirus death tally, the fourth highest in the world, stands at almost 106,000. Confirmed cases are in excess of 1.1 million.

In addition to this, Vietnam reported its first local transmission of Covid-19 in nearly three months on Monday, with officials scrambling to prevent a wider outbreak in the country’s most populous city.
