New Delhi (NVI): 580 positive cases have been recorded across in Afghanistan in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 13,036, Afghan media reported.
Among the new cases, 322 were reported in Kabul, 139 in Herat, 27 in Panjshir, 22 in Balkh, 21 in Farah, 20 in Paktia, 15 in Faryab and Parwan.
The official of Ministry of Public Health said that 40 percent of the total COVID-19 cases were from the past ten days.
The ministry is running out of medical facilities and there is a dire need for face masks, ventilators and other necessary equipment, official added.
So far, 34,936 people have been tested in the country.
Afghanistan has been reporting close to 600 new cases every day, rapidly moving from 10,000 cases to 12,000 within five days, as per media reports.
Around, 40 percent of total new cases were recorded in the past 10 days.
The Afghan health ministry also reported eight death in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll from coronavirus to 235.
At least, 1,209 patients have been cured from virus or discharged.
