Coronavirus cases surge past 106.4 million worldwide

New Delhi (NVI): More than 106.4 million people around the world have been confirmed to have the coronavirus, while the death toll has crossed 2,324,000, according to the Johns Hopkins University tally. Over 59.3 million patients have recovered from the deadly disease globally.

The number of coronavirus infections in the US have surpassed 27 million, while the number of fatalities caused due to the deadly contagion have exceeded 4,64,500 in the country.

Brazil’s coronavirus cases have crossed the 9.5 million-mark and stands at 9,524,640 while the number of deaths have surged past 2,32,000.

Meanwhile, the French health ministry has reported another 458 deaths from Covid-19, as the number of patients in hospital has increased for the second day in a row.

Israel and Greece have agreed on a tourism deal that will allow coronavirus-vaccinated citizens of the two countries to travel between them without limitations, once flights resume.

The World Health Organization insisted that the AstraZeneca vaccine was still a vital tool in the global fight against the coronavirus pandemic, after South Africa delayed the start of its inoculation programme over concerns about its efficacy against a virus variant.
