Coronavirus cases surge past 119.8 million worldwide

New Delhi (NVI): The global count of coronavirus cases has reached more than 119.8 million, with over 2,653,000 deaths reported. Over 67.8 million patients have been cured from the deadly contagion, according to Johns Hopkins University data.

In the US, the total number of coronavirus infection have reached to more than 29.4 million, while the total number of COVID-19 fatalities have surpassed 5,34,000 in the country.

Brazil’s coronavirus cases have crossed the 11.4 million-mark and stand at 11,283,370 while the number of deaths has surged past 2,78,000.

Furthermore, 4,618 lab-confirmed coronavirus cases were reported in the UK on Sunday, according to government data – compared with 5,177 cases last Sunday.

Bahrain eased some of its coronavirus restrictions on Sunday, including allowing eating inside restaurants and re-opening educational institutions to students, as case numbers fall.

Meanwhile, the Australian state of Victoria has reported no new Covid-19 cases for the fifth consecutive day. The state, which has recorded 20,483 infections and 820 deaths since the pandemic began, currently has two active cases.

French prime minister Jean Castex has said that the country must do everything to avoid another lockdown as pressure on hospitals grows, with more than 26,000 new cases being added to its tally in the last 24 hours.
