Coronavirus cases surge past 131.2 million worldwide

New Delhi (NVI): The global count of coronavirus cases has reached more than 131.2 million, with over 2,852,000 deaths reported. Over 74.4 million patients have been cured of the deadly contagion, according to Johns Hopkins University data.

In the US, the total number of coronavirus infection has reached to more than 30.7 million, while the total number of COVID-19 fatalities have surpassed 5,55,000 in the country.

Brazil’s coronavirus cases have crossed the 12.9 million-mark and stand at 12,984,956 while the number of deaths has surged past 3,31,000.

Furthermore, there have been a further 2,297 lab-confirmed coronavirus cases and 10 deaths in England and Scotland, according to government data.

Mexico added 1,263 Covid-19 cases to its tally on Sunday, taking the total number of infections since the pandemic began to 2,250,458. A further 136 deaths were also reported, bringing the toll to 204,147.

In addition to this, Peru has reported a record number of daily coronavirus deaths, with 294 fatalities registered

Meanwhile, Portugal has extended restrictions on travel via land and sea to Spain that had been due to end this weekend until April 15 as it works to contain the spread of Covid-19.
