Coronavirus cases surge past 67 million worldwide

New Delhi (NVI): More than 67 million people around the world have been confirmed to have the coronavirus, while the death toll has crossed 15,36,000, according to the Johns Hopkins University tally. Over 43.1 million patients have recovered from the deadly disease globally.

The number of coronavirus infections in the US have surpassed 14.7 million while the number of fatalities due to the deadly contagion have crossed 2,82,000.

Brazil’s coronavirus cases have crossed the 66 lakh-mark and stands at 6,603,540 while the number of deaths have surged past 1,76,000 in the country.

Meanwhile, Indonesia received its first shipment of coronavirus vaccine from China on Sunday, President Joko Widodo said, as the government prepares a mass inoculation programme.

China reported 15 new Covid-19 cases on Dec. 6, down from 18 cases a day earlier, the national health authority said on Monday.

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in mainland China now stands at 86,634, while the death toll remained unchanged at 4,634.

South Korea reported 615 new coronavirus cases on Monday, capping a month of triple-digit daily increases that have driven the nation’s largest wave of infections in nine months.

Furthermore, Mexico’s Health Ministry on Sunday reported 7,455 new cases of coronavirus infection and an additional 261 fatalities, bringing the country’s totals to 1,175,850 cases and 109,717 deaths.
