New Delhi (NVI): The global count of coronavirus cases has reached more than 85 million, with over 18,42,400 deaths reported. Over 47.3 million patients have been cured and recovered from the deadly contagion, according to Johns Hopkins University data.
In the US, the total number of coronavirus infections have crossed 20.6 million, while the number of fatalities due to the virus have surpassed 3,51,400 in the country with 3,900 new deaths.
Brazil’s coronavirus cases has surpassed 7.73 million, while the country accounts for the second highest number of COVID-19 fatalities at 1,96,018.
The Chinese mainland reported 33 new COVID-19 cases, 13 cases of local transmission and 20 from overseas. The total cases in China has reached to 96,160, and the death toll stands at 4,784.
Ireland has registered a further 4,962 cases of coronavirus in past 24 hours, taking the total number of cases past 1,00,000. The COVID-19 death toll stands at 2,259 in the country.
Meanwhile, Kuwait’s civil aviation authority has suspended direct commercial flights to and from the UK, amid concern the new strain of coronavirus.
Apart from this, New Zealand has also further tightened border controls amid mounting anxiety about the new strain of coronavirus driving up infections overseas, with 6 cases of the new variant of the virus, 5 in arrivals from the UK and 1 from South Africa.
