New Delhi (NVI): More than 104.3 million people around the world have been confirmed to have the coronavirus, while the death toll has crossed 2,267,000, according to the Johns Hopkins University tally. Over 57.9 million patients have recovered from the deadly disease globally.
The number of coronavirus infections in the US have surpassed 26.5 million, while the number of fatalities caused due to the deadly contagion have exceeded 4,50,000 in the country.
Brazil’s coronavirus cases have crossed the 9.3 million-mark and stands at 9,339,420 while the number of deaths have surged past 2,27,000.
Meanwhile, South Korean Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun on Thursday ordered a revamp of social distancing guidelines in a bid to win greater public support for efforts to stop local transmission of the new coronavirus.
Mexico reported a near-record 1,707 confirmed coronavirus deaths on Wednesday. The Health Department reported Mexico’s Covid-19 deaths now total 161,240, and confirmed infections rose by 12,153 to nearly 1.89 million.
Furthermore, a new community case of Covid-19 has been identified in New Zealand: a close contact of two recent cases, who has been self-isolating.
Greece’s new coronavirus infections rose by more than 1,000 for a second consecutive day, with health authorities adding 1,151 to the country’s tally after a month of the daily figure remaining in the triple digits.
