Coronavirus cases surpass 111.3 mn globally, US death toll nears 5 lakh

New Delhi (NVI): More than 111.3 million people around the world have been confirmed to have the coronavirus, while the death toll has crossed 2,465,000, according to the Johns Hopkins University tally. Over 62.8 million patients have recovered from the deadly disease globally.

The number of coronavirus infections in the US have surpassed 28.1 million, while the number of fatalities caused due to the deadly contagion are nearing the 5 lakh-mark and currently stands at more than 4,98,000 in the country.

Brazil’s coronavirus cases have crossed the 10.1 million-mark and stands at 10,168,174 while the number of deaths have surged past 2,46,000.

Furthermore, France reported 22,046 new confirmed coronavirus cases on Sunday, from 16,546 last Sunday, when new cases had dipped briefly.

Egypt has detected 600 new coronavirus cases, the country’s health ministry said, raising the total number of infections to 177,543.

Meanwhile, Israel has allowed a number of businesses to reopen their doors to customers on Sunday – with some venues only available to those who have received two Covid-19 vaccine doses.
