Coronavirus cases surpass 138.2 mn globally, US tally tops 31.4 mn

New Delhi (NVI): The global count of coronavirus cases has reached more than 138.2 million, with over 2,972,000 deaths reported. Over 78.7 million patients have been cured of the deadly contagion, according to Johns Hopkins University data.

In the US, the total number of coronavirus infection has reached to more than 31.4 million, while the total number of COVID-19 fatalities have surpassed 5,64,000 in the country.

Brazil’s coronavirus cases have crossed the 13.6 million-mark and stand at 13,673,507 while the number of deaths has surged past 3,61,000.

Furthermore, Turkey recorded 62,797 new coronavirus cases and 279 deaths in the last 24 hours, health ministry data showed on Wednesday, registering the highest daily death toll and rise in cases since the beginning of the pandemic.

Mexico’s government reported 5,113 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 and 518 more fatalities, according to data from the health ministry on Wednesday. It brings the country’s total to 2,291,246 infections and 210,812 deaths.

Meanwhile, Russia has announced the start of production of its Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine in Serbia, the first European country outside Russia and Belarus to begin manufacturing the jab.
