New Delhi (NVI): The number of people diagnosed with COVID-19 around the world has now exceeded 22 million, while more than 7,79,000 people have died, according to Johns Hopkins University. More than 14 million people have recovered from the disease.
In the US, the total number of cases have surged past 5.48 million while the number of fataltities have exceeded 1,71,000 in the country.
Brazil reported 47,784 new cases of coronavirus and 1,352 deaths in the past 24 hours. The country has now registered 3,407,354 cases of the virus since the pandemic began, while the official death toll from Covid-19 has risen to 1,09,888.
South Korea has reported the highest daily number of coronavirus cases since March with many of those diagnosed with the disease linked to churches in the capital. The country added 297 cases including 283 that were locally transmitted.
Australia’s second-most populous state of Victoria says 12 people have died from the new coronavirus in the last 24 hours and reported 216 new cases.
Turkey’s death toll from the coronavirus rose by 20 on Tuesday to 6,016, health ministry data showed, with the total number of identified cases rising to 2,51,805.
