New Delhi (NVI): More than 4.1 million cases of the coronavirus have now been confirmed across the world, while 1.4 million people have recovered from the disease so far, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.
More than 2,82,500 people have died worldwide due to contagion.
Meanwhile, Britain has announced a cautious easing of the country’s lockdown, encouraging those who cannot work from home to go back to their workplaces and allowing people to go out for unlimited exercise.
China and South Korea are battling renewed spikes in coronavirus cases. South Korea has started testing thousands of people suspected of infection after being exposed to the virus at a number of Seoul nightclubs and bars.
China has reported 17 new cases of coronavirus, including five in Wuhan, the city where the virus first emerged late last year.
New Zealand plans to ease nearly all the coronavirus restrictions from Thursday and will allow restaurants, cafes, cinemas, and shopping centers to reopen, as well as travel within the country to resume.
In the US, more than 1.3 million cases and at least 79,500 deaths have been reported.
