New Delhi (NVI): More than 64.5 million people around the world have been confirmed to have the coronavirus, while the death toll has crossed 14,92,000, according to the Johns Hopkins University tally. Over 41.4 million patients have recovered from the deadly disease globally.
The United States has recorded 2,597 coronavirus deaths in 24 hours, which is its worst toll since April 15 and its second-worst toll of the pandemic so far.
Meanwhile, the number of coronavirus infections in the US have surpassed 13.9 million while the number of fatalities due to the deadly contagion have crossed 2,73,500.
Brazil’s coronavirus cases have crossed the 64 lakh-mark and stands at 6,436,650 while the number of deaths have surged past 1,74,000 in the country.
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Germany increased by 22,046 to 1,106,789. The reported death toll rose by 479 to 17,602, the tally showed.
Mainland China reported 16 new Covid-19 cases on 2 December, up from nine cases a day earlier, the country’s national health authority said on Thursday.
Mexico’s health ministry reported 11,251 new confirmed cases of coronavirus infection and 800 additional fatalities, bringing the total in the country to 1,133,613 cases and 1,07,565 deaths.
