New Delhi (NVI): The global count of coronavirus cases has reached more than 5.9 million, while at least 3,64,000 people have died, according to Johns Hopkins University data.
In the US, nearly 1,225 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, raising the toll in the country to 1.02 lakh. The total cases are 1,747,087.
In Brazil, COVID-19 deaths have reached 27,878, surpassing the toll of hard-hit Spain and making it the country with the fifth-highest number of fatalities.
In another development, the Mexican government announced it would begin to reopen parts of its economy next week, as per media reports.
Meanwhile, Singapore’s foreign ministry said travel will initially resume between Singapore and six Chinese cities and regions, including Shanghai and Guangdong.
The mainland China reported four new confirmed cases of coronavirus, all brought from outside the country and no new deaths. With this the country reported a total of 4,634 deaths among 82,999 cases.
