New Delhi (NVI): China has reported 42 more deaths due to coronavirus, even as there is a reduction in the pace at which people were dying there before. The global death toll has exceeded 3,000 mark, reports in foreign media said.
Iran has announced 11 more deaths from coronavirus, bringing its death toll to 54 – the most outside China.
The number of people infected in Italy – the centre of the outbreak in Europe – jumped to 1,694, while the number in France increased to 130, according to media reports.
Meanwhile, South Korea has reported 476 new cases, bringing the total number of cases to 4,212. There have been a total of 26 deaths.
Countries including Qatar, Ecuador, Luxembourg and Ireland all confirmed their first cases over the weekend, and Indonesia followed on Monday.
The number of people killed worldwide by the coronavirus has exceeded 3,000, as China reported 42 more deaths.
More than 90 per cent of the total deaths are in Hubei, the Chinese province where the virus emerged late last year.
Worldwide, there have been almost 90,000 confirmed cases, with the numbers outside China growing faster than inside China.
Meanwhile, a charter flight from WHO’s Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office’s logistics hub in Dubai is headed to Tehran, carrying 7.5 metric tons of medical supplies and protective equipment to support over 15,000 health care workers.
