New Delhi (NVI): The Government today said that complete lockdown has been ordered in 19 states and Union Territories while 6 states and UTs are under partial lockdown.
Apart from this that some activities have been closed in three states and UTs, Health Minsitry Joint Secretary Lav Agarwal said while addressing the media here.
He also informed that the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in India have risen to 415, and the death toll stood at 7 so far, with around 402 active cases across the country.
”415 confirmed cases reported in India. 23 patients have been discharged and around 7 deaths have been reported so far in India due to coronavirus, all with comorbidities, ” he said.
On the other hand, Balram Bhargava, Director-General of ICMR said that the government has also registered 12 laboratory chains and they have started functioning. These 12 chains have 15,000 collection centres across the country,
He also informed that the process of kit manufacturing fast tracked at ICMR-NIV Pune and the two kit manufacturers are already approved.
”I would like to clarify that FDA/CE approval isn’t mandatory. ICMR-NIV approved tests which will be done there on fast-track basis will also be acceptable for coronavirus testing, ” he said.
The ICMR DG further states that Hydroxychloroquine is also recommended only for healthcare worker who is treating coronavirus patients, he said adding that it is secondly recommended only for persons staying and caring for a household positive patient. They can take that only for prophylaxis, only for prevention, he said.
Meanwhile, Health Ministry Joint Secretary Luv Agarwal has said that a complete lockdown has been announced in 19 states and the union territories across the country. “Some parts of 6 states and union territories have been kept under lockdown,” he said.
Chandigarh, Delhi, Goa, J&K, Nagaland, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Ladakh, Jharkhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Tripura, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh are among the states and the union territories which are under complete lockdown, he added.
