Coronavirus update: Single-day cases in India go above 21k

New Delhi: India’s single-day Covid cases have crossed the 21,000 mark today, with 21,566 fresh cases being registered within the span of 24 hours, against 20,557 cases reported during the preceding 24 hours.

The country registered 45 fatalities in a day yesterday, taking the cumulative death toll to 5,25,870, Union Health Ministry said this morning.

The active caseload stood at 1,48,881 constituting 0.34% of the total Covid cases.

The recovery rate is currently at 98.47%, with 18,294 patients being recovered in the last 24 hours, the ministry said.

With this the cumulative recoveries across the country have reached 4,31,50,434, it said.

The country’s daily positivity rate stands at 4.25% and the weekly positivity rate is at 4.51%.

Nearly, 5,07,360 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, taking the overall tally to 87.11 crores.

Yesterday, the country registered 20,557 fresh cases and 40 fatalities in 24 hours.

A day prior to that, the country registered 15,528 fresh cases and 25 fatalities in 24 hours.

On Monday morning, the country registered 16,935 fresh Covid cases and 51 fatalities in 24 hours.
