COVID-19 cases surpasses 30,400 in Afghanistan; death toll 638

New Delhi (NVI): The Afghan authorities confirmed 276 new coronavirus cases in Afghanistan in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 30,451, according to Afghan media reports.

The country’s Ministry of Public Health said, 10,306 people have been cured and discharged so far, while 638 died from the respiratory disease in Afghanistan.

Among the fresh cases, Kabul was on the top of the list with 71 new cases, followed by Herat with 27 positive cases.

Other provinces which reported fresh Covid-19 cases are Paktia (27), Takhar (25), Bamiyan (23), Kunduz (20), Balkh (17), Kandahar (12), Nangarhar (10), Laghman (8), Nimroz (7), Badakhshan (7), Jawzjan (7), Uruzgan (6), Kunar (3), Logar (2), Wardak (2), and Panjshir (2).

In past 24 hours, 8 people were reported to have died from deadly contagion. Among them four died in Herat, two in Paktia, one in Nangarhar, and one in Zabul (1).

Meanwhile, the ministry has also conducted 69,558 tests since February across the country.
