COVID-19 cases top 2,100 in Bangladesh; 84 dead

New Delhi (NVI): The total number of deaths from the deadly coronavirus continues to rise in Bangladesh as 9 more people have died in the last 24 hours, taking the total casualties in the country to 84.

Besides, 306 people tested positive for coronavirus during the period, raising the number of such cases in the country to 2,144, according to United News of Bangladesh.

The country has been witnessing a rapid spike in infected cases since the past week.

A total of 64 people have been recovered, after 8 more people were cured in the last 24 hours, IEDCR Director Prof Meerjady Sabrina Flora said.

Of the 9 deceased, six are from Dhaka, 2 from Narayanganj and 1 was from Savar.

Bangladesh has recently announced heavy restrictions on the movement of people to prevent further transmission of coronavirus, hours after recording a surge in the total number of cases and fatalities.
