New Delhi (NVI): The coronavirus cases in India today crossed the 19 lakh-mark and have reached 19,08,254 after the country reported 52,509 fresh cases in the last 24 hours, Union Health Ministry said.
The country’s death toll stands at 39,795 with 857 new fatalities being reported during this period.
As many as 12,82,215 COVID-19 patients have been cured and discharged so far. With this, the recovery rate improved to 66.31 percent in India.
Maharashtra remains to be worst-hit state with 4,57,956 coronavirus cases, followed by Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Delhi.
The other worst affected states are, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and West Bengal.
In terms of fatalities, Maharashtra tops the tally with 16,142 deaths, ministry said.
The death toll in the national capital surged to 4,033 while another 51,706 patients have recovered so far, healthy ministry data shows.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a cumulative total of 2,14,84,402 samples have been tested for COVID-19 up to August 3 with 6,19,652 samples being tested yesterday.
