COVID-19 tally in Odisha surpasses 5,700

Bhubaneswar (NVI): The total number of coronavirus cases in Odisha touched 5,752 after 290 fresh cases were reported in the last 24 hours, according to Odisha State Information and Public Relations Department data.

Out of the 290 fresh cases, 282 cases were detected from 17 districts of Odisha while 8 NDRF personnel were tested positive who were posted in West Bengal for rescue operations during Cyclone Amphan.

In addition to this, Ganjam becomes the first district in the state to cross 1,000 positive cases as per Health department report. All government offices of the district have been closed for general public for 10 days, as per the Collector’s circular.

Furthermore, one of the senior officers of the district has been tested positive for coronavirus while 76 corona warriors of the district have reportedly tested positive.

Government has arranged for sample collection of around 1,000 police personnel those were engaged in yesterday’s Jagannath Rath Yatra in Gopabandhu Ayurveda College of Puri.
