COVID-19 tests cross 2 crore mark in India, says ICMR

New Delhi (NVI): The number of COVID-19 tests have crossed the 2 crore mark in the country, according to Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

ICMR stated that 3,81,027 tests were conducted on August 2 taking the total tests to 2,02,02,858.

The daily testing was initially increased as there has been no let-up in daily new infection rate.

The Centre earlier adivsed all states and UTs to keep up the strategy of “Test, Track and Treat”. It has also asked the governments to test aggressive which may lead to higher number of daily positive cases initially but would eventually achieve a decline.

India’s Covid-19 tally crossed the 18 lakh mark today with 52,972 positive cases and 771 deaths reported in the last 24 hours.

With this the total Covid-19 cases stand at 18,03,696 including 5,79,357 active cases, 11,86,203 cured/discharged/migrated, and 38,135 deaths, according to the the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Monday.
