Covid: 2,71,202 new cases registered in India

New Delhi: Continuing the upward trend, the single day Covid cases in India registered in the last 24 hours were 2,71,202, the Union Health Ministry said today.

The country also recorded 314 deaths due to the pandemic during the past 24 hours.

The number of active cases was 15,50,377.

The count of Omicron variant cases also went up to 7,743 from 6,041, a figure recorded a day earlier.

Yesterday morning, the government reported 2,68,833 fresh COVID cases registered in India in the previous 24 hours along with 402 deaths.

The number marked an increase of 4,631 single day Covid cases over the preceding day.

On Friday morning, the government said 2,64,202 fresh Covid cases and 315 fatalities had been registered in a span of 24 hours.

The number of Omicron cases across the country reported on Friday was 5753.

On Thursday morning, the government said 2,47,417 fresh Covid cases and 380 fatalities were reported from the country in 24 hours.

Nearly 1,94,720 fresh cases and 442 deaths were reported on Wednesday.

A day prior to that, 1,68,063 fresh Covid cases and 277 deaths were reported across the country.

On Monday morning, the government said 1,79,723 new COVID cases and 146 deaths were registered across the country during the preceding 24 hours.

On Sunday last, 1,59,632 fresh cases were reported in 24 hours, against 1,41,986 recorded during the preceding day.
