COVID cases in Afghanistan climb to 30,175; death toll at 675

New Delhi (NVI): The coronavirus cases in Afghanistan saw a rise of 460 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number to 30,175, according to Afghan media reports.

The death toll due to the virus rose to 675 with 36 new fatalities being reported in the last 24 hours.

The Afghan Ministry of Public Health said, among the fresh cases reported, the highest count was reported in Kabul with 166 cases, followed by Paktia with 69 positive cases.

Other provinces which reported COVID-19 cases are Herat (59), Nangarhar (5), Takhar (38), Bamiyan (3), Baghlan (18), Logar (1), Kunduz (24), Wardak (13), Badakhshan (7), Laghman (1), Kunar (2), Kapisa (25) and Daikundi (29), as per the reports.

In terms of fatalities, eleven people were reported dead in Nangarhar, five in Kabul, five in Panjshir, three in Takhar, two in Kunduz, one in Kunar, Helmand and Paktika, three in Farah, and fours in Sar-e-Pul in the last 24 hours.

So far, 10,174 people have been cured and discharged from the hospitals in Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, the ministry has also conducted 68,626 COVID-19 tests since February across the country.
