New Delhi (NVI): India registered another record of single-day spike with 24,879 cases in the last 24 hours, raising the total toll of coronavirus to 7,67,296.
The death toll due to the virus rose to 21,129, with 487 new fatalities being reported in the last 24 hours, Union Health Ministry said.
As many as 4,76,378 COVID-19 patients have been cured and discharged so far.
In worst-hit Maharashtra, the COVID-19 cases increased to 2,23,724, followed by Tamil Nadu with 1,22,350 cases, and Delhi with 1,04,864 cases.
Maharashtra has also reported the highest number of fatalities at 9,448, followed by 1,993 in Gujarat and 1,700 in Tamil Nadu.
The death toll in the national capital rose to 3,213, while 78,199 patients in Delhi have recovered so far, the healthy ministry data shows.
The other worst affected states are Gujarat (38,333), Uttar Pradesh (31,156), West Bengal (24,823) and Rajasthan (22,063).
Meanwhile, a week-long lockdown will be imposed in Bihar’s capital Patna from July 10, as a sharp increase in the number of Covid-19 cases.
In addition, all religious places will be closed and shops selling essentials will be allowed to operate during this time.
