New Delhi (NVI): New Zealand today announced that it is temporarily suspending entry of travellers from India, including its own citizens, in the wake of surge in daily Covid-19 cases in India which is witnessing the second wave of the pandemic.
This comes after New Zealand recorded 23 new cases at its border today, out of which 17 were from India. The fresh travel restrictions have been imposed for about next two weeks, as per reports in foreign media.
New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern made an announcement in this regard in a news conference in Auckland.
This comes on a day when India has recorded 1,26,789 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, the biggest-ever daily surge the country has witnessed do far. 685 fresh deaths due to the deadly virus have also been recorded since yesterday.
