Covid update: Single-day cases in India rise to 16,159

COVID-19 threatens people with heart diseases, as winter hints at a second wave

New Delhi: India witnessed an increase in single-day Covid cases, with 16,159 new cases being registered in the last 24 hours, against 13,086 cases reported during the previous day.

The country registered 28 fatalities in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative death toll to 5, 25,270, Union Health Ministry said this morning.

The active caseload stood at 1,15,212 constituting 0.26% of the total Covid cases.

The recovery rate is currently at 98.53%, with 15,394 patients being recovered in the last 24 hours, the ministry said.

With this the cumulative recoveries across the country have reached 4,29,07,327, it said.

The country’s daily positivity rate stands at 3.56% and the weekly positivity rate is at 3.84%.

Yesterday, the country registered 13,086 fresh Covid cases and 19 fatalities in 24 hours.

The country registered 16,135 cases during the previous 24 hours.

A day prior to that, the country registered 16,103 fresh Covid cases and 31 fatalities in 24 hours.

On Saturday, the country registered 17,092 new cases recorded in 24 hours.
