New Delhi (NVI): Veteran CPM leader Shyamal Chakraborty died of Covid-19 today, days after he was tested positive for coronavirus. He was 76.
The former West Bengal Transport minister breathed his last at a private hospital at around 1:45 PM today.
The former cabinet minister was admitted to a private nursing home on June 30 with breathing issues and other old-age ailments.
His daughter, Ushashi Chakraborty said that the leader was suffering from breathing problems after developing some infection in his lungs.
Shyamal was also elected to the Rajya Sabha. He was also the state president of CITU, the trade union arm of CPM.
