Jammu, Jan 16 (NVI: A cricket tournament held in Kishtwar district, dedicated to renowned para-archer Sheetal Devi, became a vibrant celebration of sportsmanship, unity, and collaboration among the youth of Jammu and Kashmir today.
The event drew participation from 24 enthusiastic teams, highlighting the district’s deep-rooted passion for cricket and the potential of its young players.
Adding significance to the occasion was champion Pakeeza Jan, who attended as the chief guest. She inspired participants with her words, emphasizing the urgent need for better sports infrastructure in the region. “Sports unite and empower communities. Providing cricket stadiums and practice nets will open new avenues for our youth and help them shine on larger platforms,” she remarked while urging the district administration to prioritize these facilities.
The tournament’s success was a testament to the dedication of its organizers, Engineer Anil Kumar Shan and Tausif Ahmed Wani, whose efforts to promote a sports culture in the area received widespread praise.
