CRPF trooper, civilian injured in grenade attack in South Kashmir

Anantnag (NVI): A CRPF jawan and a civilian were injured today after militants lobbed a grenade at a check post in Achabal area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, police officials said.

The militants also fired a few shots towards the forces personnel of CRPF’s 96 Battalion after lobbing the grenade, they said.

However, the CRPF troopers retaliated effectively, forcing the militants to flee from the spot.

A trooper identified as Samrat Gosh sustained injuries in the blast and was shifted to a hospital where his condition is stated to be stable.

The condition of the injured civilian, identified as shopkeeper Ishfaq Dalal, is also stable.

A search operation was launched immediately after the attack.
