Delhi air quality improves slightly but still remains ‘Very Poor’

New Delhi (NVI): Continuing with its improvement trend since last evening, the overall air quality in Delhi-NCR got slightly better today although remaining in the “very poor” category for the fourth consecutive day.

Delhiites woke up a a comparatively brighter and cleaner sky this morning as the overall AQI was recorded as 316 early today, improving from yesterday’s 360.

The AQI of Delhi today was the lowest in three days and no quick deterioration in air quality is expected for the next two days, government’s System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR) said.

Delhi’s Lodhi Road saw a decrease in PM10 and PM2.5 pollutants. PM10 pollutants in Lodhi Road were recorded as 175 while PM2.5 pollutants reached 313. According to SAFAR, PM10 pollutants in Mathura Road were at 255 while PM1.5 pollutants were at 331.

The air quality of Pusa improved as its AQI reached 179. On Sunday morning, Delhi’s Anand Vihar had an AQI of 191 while Noida, Uttar Pradesh had an AQI of 183.

AQI that falls between 51-100 is considered as ‘satisfactory’, 101-200 falls in the ‘moderate’ category, 201-300 is said to be in the ‘poor’ category, 301-400 is in the ‘very poor’ category while 401-500 is said to be in the ‘hazardous’ category.
