New Delhi (NVI): The overall air quality in the national capital today slipped to the “Very Poor” category and may deteriorate further by tomorrow.
According to System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR), “The AQI may further deteriorate by tomorrow towards higher end of very poor and may touch SEVERE in some parts of Delhi by 22nd November”.
SAFAR said the reason behind the worse air quality in Delhi is due to the likely calm surface winds preventing dispersion and significantly increase in fire counts to ~1000.
SAFAR however said that this peak in PM2.5 will not last long and an improvement is expected by 23rd November due to passing a fresh westerly disturbances.
The worst affected areas are Chandini Chowk, Lodhi Road, IIT Delhi, IGI T3, Mathura Road and Ayanagar, with Chandini having PM2.5 at 398.
