Srinagar, Sep 10 (NVI): As the news about an interim bail to jailed Member Parliament Engineer Rashid, by the Delhi’s Patiala House Court spread like a fire in Kashmir, Awami Itehad Party (AIP) today said it’s a big relief for the party and all the candidates who are in fray from various seats of Kashmir as people of north Kashmir have “proved the power of vote.”
“Indeed a big relief for us and all ranks of the party,” Inam Un Nabi, the Chief spokesman of AIP told NVI, over phone. A visibly jubilant Inam said that the party would get a real boost as Engineer Rashid would campaign himself. “It is the victory of people of North Kashmir who voted for Er Sahab in Lok Sabha polls. Today, they have come to know the power of vote.”
He confirmed that the Delhi’s Patiala court has granted an interim bail to Er Rashid up to Oct 2. The approval of bail for Er Rashid will lift the morale of entire AIP camp especially the candidates in fray.
Talking to NVI, Er Rashid’s son Abrar Rashid said it would be after a gap of five years, he would see his father face to face. “Much needed respite for the family and rest of party cadre,” he said. “It is the people of North Kashmir, who deserve credit for my father’s release for some days only.”
Er Rashid was arrested in connection with the terror funding case and was lodged in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail over the past five years. The court has allowed Er Rashid to campaign for the upcoming J&K elections. Er Rashid emerged victorious in the recently held Parliamentary polls from Baramulla Lok Saba constituency defeating Omar Abdullah of National Conference and Sajad Lone of Peoples Conference with a huge margin.
