New Delhi (NVI): The national capital, which is witnessing a hot and humid weather amid the Covid-19 pandemic, is expected to get a fresh bout of rain around the weekend, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Although the Meteorological department had predicted the onset of monsoon in Delhi on June 25, there has been no rain so far, except for some scattered ones in some parts of the capital last month.
The maximum temperature in Delhi today was recorded at 39 degrees Celsius, above normal while the humidity was 43 per cent. Tomorrow also, the maximum temperature is expected to be around 40 degrees Celsius.
Proper monsoon rainfall is expected to begin in Delhi from July 4, which may rise humidity levels as well.
Thunderstorms with rain would occur over and adjoining areas of Mundka (Delhi) and Etah (Uttar-Pradesh) today, according to IMD.
Meanwhile, as per the latest estimates by System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR), the air quality in Delhi remained in the ‘moderate’ category for the third consecutive day today as overall AQI rose to 108, after days of clean air during the lockdown. With the second phase of Unlock active from July 1, the traffic is back on the roads. Vehicles have started plying on roads since June when Unlock 1 was announced.
