New Delhi (NVI): The national capital observed a fog-free morning today but freezing winds added to the chill in the city. Clear weather and sunshine also led the temperature to dip. The overall temperature in the city today is around 19 degrees Celsius. Minimum temperature in Delhi today dropped to 7.7 degrees Celsius from 8.2 degrees Celsius recorded yesterday.
It is expected to hover around 21 degrees at maximum. The maximum temperature on Friday was around 20 degrees celsius, according to India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The weatherman has forecast that a spell of showers is likely to hit Delhi on January 28 onwards due to fresh western disturbance.
Meanwhile, in the last few days, the overall air quality in the national capital has improved a notch from “very poor” to “moderate” category.
According to System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR), the Air Quality Index (AQI) in the national capital on Friday stood at 112 which falls in the “moderate” category.
Apart from this, due to cold northerly winds, many cities in the western state of Rajasthan observed a dip in mercury. According to the weatherman, Churu recorded a minimum of 3.2 degrees Celsius, Bikaner 6 degrees, Kota 7.2 degrees, Ajmer and Jaipur 7.4 degrees and Jaisalmer 9.2 degrees. Churu becomes one of the coldest places in the region in winters with extreme cold conditions.
