New Delhi (NVI): The air quality in Delhi- NCR region remained in the “very poor” category but is likely to improve by today evening.

However, the Government-run System of Air Quality Forecasting And Research (SAFAR) said the relief is expected for next two days with an increase in wind speed, which will disperse pollutants faster.

The overall air quality index (AQI) in the national capital region was recorded at 360 with the PM2.5 level standing at 145 and PM10 level at 233.

The CPCB air quality index, which measures the concentration of poisonous particulate matter, touched a high of 247 in Sriniwaspuri College area, which falls in the “very poor” category.

Meanwhile, the AQI for Chandani Chowk was recorded at 334, Lodhi Road (313), Airport T3 (322), IIT Delhi (311) and Dhirpur (315) which were in the “very poor” level.

Neighbouring Gurugram recorded a PM2.5 of 342 while in Noida it was 327.

The AQI is likely to stay in the poor category until 25th November. No quick deterioration in air quality is expected for the next two days, SAFAR said in a statement.

The stubble transport-level winds are again back from Punjab-Haryana but the high surface winds in Delhi won’t allow pollutant to accumulate.

Hence, no significant stubble impact is expected for the next two days, SAFAR further added.
