Srinagar, Aug 22 (NVI) As Jammu and Kashmir gears up for the Assembly elections, the security situation at the International Border with Pakistan was today reviewed by the Chief of Border Security Force (BSF) Daljit Singh Chawdhary by visiting frontier areas.

The Director General of BSF visited Border Outposts and assessed the operational preparedness of field formations in the Samba-Kathua sector and Sunderbani sector, an official statement said.

BSF Inspector General DK Boora gave a detailed presentation to the DG, covering all critical aspects of border security and domination, including the prevailing security scenario along the IB in Jammu, it said.

The development is significant as Pakistan has been trying desperately to push terrorists into Jammu and Kashmir to cause violence and bloodshed during the elections, which begin on September 18 and will conclude with counting votes on October 4.

The Director General also interacted with BSF Sector commander and Battalion commanders on border management aspects.

The BSF chief also addressed the troops and praised them for their dedication towards border duties.
