DGP, IGP Kashmir Assess Ground Situation After J&K Anantnag Terror Attack

Srinagar July 22 (NVI): Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat on Wednesday visited the site of the terror attack in the Lal Chowk area of Anantnag district, where a police head constable was killed in an encounter with terrorists.

Official sources said the DGP was accompanied by Special DGP (Coordination) S.J.M. Gillani, Inspector General of Police (Kashmir) V.K. Birdi, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anantnag Amod Ashok and other senior officers.

The officers reviewed the security situation and were briefed by field commanders on the sequence of events, deployment of security personnel and the progress of the ongoing anti-terror operation.

The visit came hours after Head Constable Aashiq Hussain Qureshi succumbed to injuries sustained during an exchange of fire with terrorists.

Security forces have cordoned off the area, and the operation to track down the terrorists was continuing, officials said.(NVI)
