Srinagar, Sep 06 (NVI): Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of South Kashmir Range, Javid Iqbal Matoo (IPS), visited Kulgam district today to assess the security situation and review the preparedness for the upcoming Assembly Election 2024.
“During his visit, he chaired a key meeting at the District Police Lines (DPL) Kulgam with officers from the local Police, Army, and CRPF,” reads a statement issued to police, a copy of which is available with the News Vibes of India (NVI).
It reads, SP Kulgam, Sahil Sarangal (IPS), provided a detailed presentation outlining the security scenario, enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct, and other Proactive measures. The presentation also covered plans for candidate security, strong room protection, and transport and communication strategies. The police are working closely with other security agencies to address potential challenges at the grassroots level to ensure a peaceful election process.
“Several senior officers were present at the meeting, including DIG CRPF (Ops) Range Anantnag, commanders from various Rashtriya Rifles (RR) units, and officers from CRPF battalions and the Kulgam police” it reads.
“The meeting focused on devising strategic measures to strengthen security and combat the threat posed by Over Ground Workers (OGWs) and Anti-National Elements (ANEs). DIG Matoo emphasized the importance of ensuring the peaceful and incident-free conduct of the elections. He urged officers to remain vigilant and strengthen the security grid across the district,” reads the statement.
Also, the visit highlights the focus on security to ensure a smooth and secure election process in Kulgam.—(News Vibes of India)
