Humble start to Day 2 of J&K Assembly session, Tributes paid to Vajpayee, Mukherjee and Rana.

Srinagar, Nov 05,(NVI): After an unusual ruckus in the Jammu and Kashmir legislative assembly on Monday, normal proceedings were witnessed on the second day with obituaries paid to the leaders who passed away during the past years.

The session began with the Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather paying tributes to the late leaders.

The Speaker made references to the demise of former President of India Pranab Mukherjee, former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, former Speaker of Lok Sabha Somnath Chatterjee, former Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Jagmohan, former Union Minister Prof Chaman Lal Gupta.

Two minutes of silence was also observed in the assembly in memory of the deceased leaders.

An announcement of the names of the panel of chairmen of the house was also made by the speaker.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in his address paid rich tributes to Devender Singh Rana defining his personality as an extremely down to earth politician and a successful businessman who had started from a scratch.

Abdullah also lauded Late Atal Behari Vajpayee’s endeavour of maintaining better relations with neighbouring countries especially Pakistan.

Abdullah expressed regret over Vajpayee’s policies about Jammu and Kashmir not being maintained. “Vajpayee ji had a strong vision and had devised comprehensive policies for the development of Jammu and Kashmir, which unfortunately were not put into practice ” said Abdullah.

Tributes were also paid to former Members of Constituent Assembly, Prof Bhim Singh, Krishan Dev Sethi, former MLAs Abdul Aziz Parray, Muhammad Yasin Shah, Rachpal Singh, Peer Abdul Gani Shah, Choudhary Bashir Ahmad Naz, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Muhammad Shafi Khan, Abdul Gani Naseem, Abdul Wahid Shan, Ghulam Qadir Bhat (Bedar), Abdul Aziz Parray, Ghulam Rasool Bahar, Abdul, Razak Wagay, Thakur Diwakar Singh, Rajesh Gupta, Som Nath, Prakash Sharma, Muhammad Maqbool Bhat, and Ghulam Rasool Sofi. Former MLCs whose reference would be made are Choudhary Fateh Muhammad, Abdul Rehman Badana, Habibullah Bhat, Thakur Kashmira Singh, Yashpal Sharma, Raja Nasir Khan, Wali Muhammad Bhagwan, Haji Ali Muhammad Bhat, Abdul Aziz Wani, Chuni Lal Dhiman, Trilochan Singh Wazir, Aga Syed Jamal, Haji Muhammad Sultan, Gulzar Ahmad Khatana, Muhammad Aslam, and Mirza Muhammad Yaqoob.
