DM Kupwara issues instructions for regulation of vehicles plying during election campaign

Srinagar, Aug 16 (NVI):- District Magistrate Kupwara Ayushi Sudan has issued instructions for regulation of vehicles plying during election campaign period in the district.

As per the order issued by District Magistrate Kupwara, Strict action against Vehicles plying in contravention of Provisions of Motor Vehicle Act shall be taken, Close watch will be on the vehicles for any possible mischief or criminal activities carrying of illegal arms, illicit liquor and anti-social elements shall be made till the elections are over, Vehicles for campaign purposes shall ply only with prior approval of Returning Officer. Original permits bearing number of vehicle and name of candidate be displayed premonitory on wind screen of vehicles and Vehicle not registered for campaigning if found being used for campaigning shall be deemed to be un-authorized campaigning for the candidate.

“During filing of nominations, only upto 3 vehicles are allowed to come within the periphery of 100 meters of RO/ARO office, In case visits by Party leader as covered U/S 77(I)(a) the permits of vehicles for road journey shall be issued centrally by CEO/RO in different colour, convoys of more than 03 vehicles (excluding security vehicles in view of security gradation of PP) shall not be allowed from the date of notification till completion of election. Bigger convoys shall be broken up keeping a minimum distance of 200 mtrs, There shall be no restriction on number of vehicles in a convoy on the road during the period of election campaign by leaders as covered u/s 77(I) of ECI’s No. 437/6/Inst/2008-CC&BE dated 31.10.2008 and Bicycle, Two wheelers or cycle rickshaw shall also be considered a vehicle u/s 160 of RP Act, 1991.

“The afore quoted instructions shall be strictly adhered to by all the concerned Political parties, candidates.” It reads.

“This order shall remain in force till the Assembly Elections 2024 are over in the district Kupwara.” It adds further.(News Vibes of India)
