Doda attack: J&K police cracks down on overground workers of terrorists

Doda (Jammu), July 17 (NVI) Going into a crackdown mode in the wake of deadly terror attack, the police in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir has arrested several overground associates of terrorists and more arrests are likely.

“Doda Police has intensified its crackdown on the OGW’s (overground workers’) network in the District, arresting several OGWs and supporters in response to recent attacks in June and July,” the police posted on X.

Overground workers are those who provide logistical support to the terrorists, like hiding place, transportation and food etc.

Doda has witnessed two major terror attacks since June 12, with the latest one two days back resulting in the death of 4 army men.

An official told NVI that on June 12, 2024, an FIR (No. 67/2024) was registered under various sections of the IPC, Arms Act, and UAPA at Police Station Gandoh.

Following investigations led by SDPO Gandoh, Mubashir Hussain, two persons — Safder Ali and Sajad Ahmed — were arrested on 18th and 20th June 2024 and are currently under judicial custody at District Jail in Bhaderwah.

Subsequently, on June 26, 2024, another FIR (No. 70/2024) was registered at police station Gandoh and Showket Ali was apprehended on July 14, 2024 and is under police custody, with further arrests anticipated as the investigation progresses on.”

He said the Doda Police is committed to dismantle the OGW’s network in the District.

More arrests are likely to be carried out soon, he said.    (News Vibes of India)
