EESL signs MoU with UAE municipal body for energy efficiency, renewables strategy

New Delhi (NVI): The Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) has signed a MoU with Ras Al Khaimah Municipality Department, UAE, to establish a framework for collaboration in various energy efficiency and renewable energy programs in the emirate.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Saurabh Kumar, Executive Vice Chairperson, EESL Group and Munther Mohammed bin Shekar, Director General of Ras Al Khaimah Municipality Department at the Rixos Bab Al Bahr on Al Marjan Island.

This strategic collaboration is expected to develop energy efficiency and clean energy projects, as part of the Ras Al Khaimah Energy Efficiency and Renewables Strategy 2040.

Taking to Twitter, EESL said, “We’ve signed an MoU with Ras Al Khaimah Municipality Department, to establish a framework for collaboration across various energy efficiency and renewable energy programmes in support of their Energy Efficiency & Renewables Strategy 2040.”

As per the MoU signed between the two nations, the State-run, EESL through its presence in UAE will support in enabling easier adoption of e- mobility and renewable energy solutions among others.

“Under the MoU, we will support @munrakae in enabling easier adoption of e- mobility, renewable energy solutions, tri-generation, industrial energy efficiency and domestic #EE appliances,” EESL said in another tweet.

According to RAK Municipality Department statement, “The strategic collobaration targets 30 per cent energy savings, 20 per cent water savings, and 20 per cent contribution of electricity from renewable sources by 2040.”

Notably, Ras Al Khaimah Municipality works on providing a comfortable environment in which people can live and work. Reem, the Energy Efficiency and Renewables Office at RAK Municipality, coordinates the implementation of the RAK Energy Efficiency and Renewables Strategy 2040.
