Srinagar, July 06 (NVI) : An Army jawan was killed in an ongoing gunfight today between a group of terrorists and security forces in Matergam village of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
A top police officer told News Vibes of India (NVI) that three terrorists are trapped and the operation is going on.
The encounter started in the forenoon after a joint team of Police and Army launched a cordon and search operation in Matergam.
As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists fired upon the forces, he said.
In the initial firing, a jawan of the Army was injured, sources said, adding he succumbed to the wounds at a hospital.
