End of Campaigning Period for Srinagar District : Prohibitory Orders Issued

Srinagar, Sep 23 (NVI): Campaigning has officially ended in District Srinagar for all eight assembly constituencies.

In light of the upcoming elections, the District Magistrate (Deputy Commissioner/District Election Officer) of Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, has issued prohibitory orders under Section 163 BNSS.

These restrictions will be in effect across the district from 6:00 p.m. on September 23, 2024 (Monday), until 6:00 p.m. on September 25, 2024 (Wednesday), marking the start of the silence period ahead of polling. The aim is to maintain a smooth electoral process and uphold democratic principles.

According to the order, any unlawful assembly or public meetings, processions, or rallies are strictly prohibited under Section 189 of BNS to prevent potential law and order issues.(News Vibes of India)
